A lot of people are actively trying to figure out the best and most effective way to monitor their body ketones. I used to be one of those people.
Being a fitness buff, I’ve always been particular about what I ingest into my body and how that affects my health. One of the things I pay close attention to is the level of ketones in my body. Checking ketone levels is not always a simple process (at least not until I discovered Ketoscan Mini), I had to endure being poked with needles for the blood strip method. To be honest, I wasn’t comfortable with being poked with a needle, so when I heard of the Ketoscan Mini, I immediately tried it out. I’m really glad I did.
The whole procedure was quite simple (took a while to get the breathing right but the app made it fun). Once you have completed your breath sample, you get an instant report of your body’s level of ketosis.
It is fast and gives very accurate results. When I first unboxed the KetoScan Mini, I spent some time reading the user manual and checking out the app functions before trying it out. Both are simple to understand – the device is very easy to use.
Whilst there are other electronic analysers that are much cheaper than Ketoscan Mini, they are based on breathalyser sensors rather than being specifically designed to detect Ketones. The electro-chemical cartridge in the Ketoscan Mini lasts for over 300 tests, but makes the device far more sensitive and accurate – and once the unit tells me it’s empty, I simply return it for a service and it comes back with a new cartridge fully calibrated ready to go.
The reviews on the Ketoscan Mini are also excellent – there are several on YouTube, as well as the website and I can see why. It can be used on its own or alongside the KetoScan Mini app which you can download from either Google play store if you’re on android or the App Store if you’re on iOS. The app is free and contains no in-app purchases.
It can be used conveniently anywhere, at any time. The device is small and portable (smaller than a phone), rechargeable via USB and comes with a pouch which makes it easy to take it anywhere. Whilst a blood monitor is also relatively easy to carry around, it’s not that convenient to use in public places (Imagine poking yourself with needle and squeezing out blood from your finger in a subway or restaurant!). With the Ketoscan Mini, you just blow into the device and check the result on your phone. It looks very much like you’re using an inhaler, so people won’t pay much attention to you and the situation won’t seem weird or inappropriate.
It is also much cheaper in the long run than blood tests. On average, I used to spend around £1 per strip on blood tests while using the blood monitor, but although the Ketoscan Mini costs around £179, I don’t have to spend money on any more strips and I only have to replace the sensor cartridge in the device after 300 uses (about 12 months of usage) at a cost of £39 – so just 13p per test.
It also comes with 5 extra mouth pieces in case you want to share with others.
Overall, the Ketoscan Mini is a fast, cost effective way to monitor your ketosis level with guaranteed result accuracy. You should try it out!
