Little Smokies Recipe

Little Smokies, smothered in a sweet tangy BBQ sauce are one of the easiest, most loved appetizers out there. These are guaranteed to disappear whether it’s for a party or dinner, these are just too tasty and fun not to eat.

I love bringing a meaty type dish to add some protein and something savory to an occasion. Similar to Easy chipotle Honey Meatballs, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, or Meatloaf Meatballs, these are meaty, and the perfect dish to counter all the sweet. Grab a toothpick and dig in!

Savory, rich and flavorful BBQ Little Smokies in the slow cooker.

Crockpot Little Smokies

Savory little smoked sausages are the perfect companion for your favorite BBQ sauce, sweetened with a bit of sugar and tang. It’s a crowd pleaser for sure! They are just perfect for any occasion.

These are rich and flavorful and so super easy. Just add it all to the crock pot for a few hours and your ready to go. It’s so nice to be able to set it and forget it. the crock pot will do all the work for you. They are versatile, easy and so delicious.

BBQ Little Smokies Ingredients

Simple ingredients for a great appetizer or meal!

  • Worcestershire Sauce: Your going to love the extra meaty flavor it adds

Ingredients for making the sauce for Little Smokies.

What are Slow Cooker Little Smokies

  • Name: These are also known as cocktail sausages or cocktail weenies.
  • Meat: These are basically miniature smoked pork sausages. They are already cooked. There are different brands and types and all will work in this recipe.
  • How to cook: Very similar to Hot Dogs you can cook them same. Either boil, fry or microwave or as in this recipe, slow cook them. They are very versatile and will work in many different recipes although this is our favorite.
  • Where to find: You can find these in the refrigerated meat section close to the hot dogs in most grocery stores.

Sauce being poured over little smokies in the slow cooker.

Tips, Variations, Storing Best Little Smokies Recipe

  • Sugar: You can swap out the sugar for grape, or apple jelly. Cranberry sauce is also a great substitute. Using a dark brown sugar will give it a hint of molasses flavor.
  • BBQ Sauce: You can trade out the BBQ sauce with Chili Sauce and if you use a sweet BBQ sauce you can use less to no sugar.
  • Sweet and Sour: Trade out your BBQ sauce with your favorite sweet and sour sauce
  • Smokies: You can use meatballs instead of little smokies with great success.
  • Storing: Leftovers will keep in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days. These also freeze well in a freezer safe container for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat: Simply reheat leftovers in the microwave or in a pot on the stove till just heated through.

How to Make the Best Scrambled Eggs Ever!

The Best Scrambled Eggs are fluffy, light, moist and taste amazing. There is a secret to it though, and I’ve got it. The secret to the perfect scrambled eggs is cooking them low and slow!

Eggs go with so many things, try them with these Perfect Fluffy Pancakes or Belgian Waffles. Or put them in these freezer friendly Breakfast Burritos.

Fluffy, soft, perfect scrambled eggs.

Perfect Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled eggs are one of the easiest and quickest complete proteins out there. I’ve used them in a pinch for not just breakfast but lunch and dinner too. It’s the perfect answer for that dreaded question “What’s for dinner?” On those days where you’re lucky to have made it to dinner time at all, let alone know what to eat, grab eggs and you’ve got it made! They are so versatile you can do so many things with them!

You can rest easy knowing you’re giving your family and loved ones a nutritional meal when you serve eggs. Did you know that one egg has only 75 calories and 7 grams of high-quality protein. With only 1.6 grams of saturated fat and iron, vitamins, minerals and carotenoids, they are a powerhouse of disease-fighting nutrients. Including lutein and zeaxanthin. So heat up the pan, it’s time to have some eggs!

Fluffy Scrambled Egg Ingredients

Pretty simple ingredients. Super easy and quick to mix together!

  • Butter: Just enough to help it not stick to the pan and impart a little bit of flavor.
  • Eggs: This recipe uses 4 Large eggs
  • Milk: Can substitute out with water
  • Salt and Pepper: Add to your tastes

Let’s Make Scrambled Eggs!

It may take a little bit longer than you thought but, trust me, it’s worth the wait for these perfect delicate eggs! Add a side of bacon and this is the perfect breakfast!

  1. Melt: In a non stick skillet over medium low heat melt the butter
  2. Whisk: In a small bowl whisk together the eggs and milk.
  3. Pour: Once the butter has melted pour the egg mixture in the pan. Wait until you see a thin layer of egg cooking around the edges. Using a rubber spatula, move the eggs around the pan until they look fluffy and soft. Remove from heat when they look soft and slightly runny.
  4. Serve: Salt and pepper to your taste, top with chives if you desire and serve immediately.

Making the best scrambled eggs with milk and on medium low heat.

Tips for the Best Egg Breakfast

  • Whisk: This is a critical step, don’t under do it. Ditch the fork and cereal bowl and get a good sized bowl and whisk. Beat the eggs till all the yolks and whites are totally combined with no globby steaks. It should be light and airy. Whisk it will whip that air into the eggs to help them be fluffy and soft.
  • Eggs: What ever you buy and wherever you buy your eggs, get good quality eggs, it matters.
  • Seasoning: Wait till after you cook the eggs to season them with salt and pepper. Adding it in the beginning draws out the moisture in the eggs, making them watery.
  • Milk: Without the fat in dairy added to the eggs can be very, easy to over cook. The milk results in creamy, moist and softer eggs than if you left it out.
  • Secret Cooking Method: Remember it’s low and slow!! Don’t get in a hurry. The pan should be low enough that when the eggs are poured in, nothing happens. No sizzling. Trust me.
  • Wait: You have to wait till that thin layer of cooked egg begins on the edges before you stirring.
  • Stir: A rubber or silicone spatula is a must. The flexibility of the spatula allows you to hug the contours of the pan and get a really clean swipe/fold each time you push the eggs around.
  • Remove: Make sure to remove from the pan when you still think they’re a bit too wet. They’ll continue to cook once removed.

What Can You Do With Eggs Scrambled?

Eggs can be a dish of its own or add it to create more breakfast, lunch or dinner ideas! Try these delicious egg recipes for more ways to enjoy your scrambled eggs.

  • Solo: They are perfect on their own
  • Add-Ins: Once you remove from the heat, you can add in sautéed veggies, cheese, bacon crumbles, chorizo, ham, or whatever else you can think up
  • Tacos/Burritos: With a perfect protein you can wrap these up in way you’d like
  • Toast: Place on top of toast, you can add avocado and fresh tomatoes.
  • Sandwich: This makes the best sandwiches with bacon, or sausage, cheese, avocado, tomato on croissants, bagels or English muffins.
  • Pizza: Use as a topping for breakfast pizza

Perfectly soft, fluffy and light scrambled eggs.

Meet James Dowler: A Teacher Will Appear When One is Ready to Listen

Breathe with James every Thursday on Wanderlust TV as he takes over the LIVE studio to host ‘Breathwork for Resilience’.

James supports people to move beyond the conditioning of the mind and into an embodied and heart-felt space. Having spent years practicing meditation with teachers across Europe, he stumbled across a Conscious Connected Breathing Workshop and in his first session knew he had found the tool that he was here to share. Now, he spends his time teaching people to harness the power of their breath to alleviate emotional issues, improve their physical health and connect them to a deeper understanding of themselves.

How did you begin practicing breathwork?

I had been practicing meditation for years and on return from a silent retreat in Wales somehow ended up in a “Conscious Connected Breathing” workshop at a yoga studio in London on a Sunday afternoon. I didn’t know what it was, who the teacher was and I’d never been to the yoga studio before, but something inside me told me I needed to be there. It blew my mind and in that first session, I knew I had found the tool that I was here to share.

How has your practice evolved when you transitioned from being a student to being a teacher?

I don’t think the transition from student to teacher has changed my practice. I still very much see myself as a student and the transition in how I teach is better reflected by the growth and journey that I am on rather than the transition from student to teacher. For example, at the moment I am incorporating neuroscience and manifestation into my teaching because it’s what I have also been doing in my personal practices.

JamesYour class is called Breathwork for Resilience. Are there specific techniques that students should expect to learn that help building resilience?

We use the breath as a vehicle to create a mild stress response in the body to better equip the body to process stress day-to-day. These techniques tend to be quite quick and often involve using the mouth to breathe so to create this activation in the body.

What essence are you hoping is transmitted through the practice that goes beyond just watching someone on a screen?

I’m not trying to transmit anything. I’m just being me teaching a practice that I believe has the ability to greatly improve one’s mental and emotional state. If someone resonates with my energy and the energy of the practice then amazing.

What would be the one piece of advice you could give to the Wanderlust TV streamers to deepen the connection with a teacher during their online practice?

Listen to which teacher/s they resonate with and spend more time practicing under them and listening to them through things like podcasts. I firmly believe that the relevant teachers will appear in one’s life when one is ready to listen to that and be guided by what they are saying.

Morning or evening practice – is one more beneficial than the other?

Nope. Depends on what you need and where you’re at that moment. If you’re looking to create energy in the body to start the day your practice is going to be very different from if you’re looking to wind down at the end of the day.

Is there a person, past or present, who has influenced you to study and ultimately teach breathwork?

My first mentor Alan Dolan. It was his Breathwork workshop that I first stumbled into. An amazing Breathworker and an even more amazing human.

Build Lean Muscle With This 20-Minute Abs, Butt, and Leg Workout by Brittany Watts

When's the last time you did a workout that took less than 30 minutes and left you feeling strong and in a better mood than when you started? If you can't remember, we recommend bookmarking this page, because this 20-minute bodyweight workout from Brittany Watts, a NASM-certified and Performix House trainer will do just that.

Not to mention, it can help you develop lean muscle in your lower body, especially in the glutes (but you're going to have to be consistent with training and your nutrition for those results!). "Efficient and effective, this workout is perfect if you don't have a lot of time," Watts told POPSUGAR.

If you're looking for something that will have you feeling mentally and physically good, grab some water and get ready to move your body!

Brittany Watts's 20-Minute Bodyweight Abs and Lower-Body Workout

Directions: Before getting started, Watts said to do a dynamic warmup, incorporating exercises like plank walkouts, leg swings, and jumping jacks - here's one we really like.

This workout is broken up into three circuits. You'll complete all three exercises in each circuit for the designated reps/time, taking little to no rest in between each exercise. Once you've finished all three exercises, take 30 seconds of rest, repeat the circuit two more times for a total of three rounds, and then advance to the following circuit.

Don't forget to cool down and stretch and maybe even foam roll once the workout is over.

Circuit 1

  • Circuit 1, exercise 1: high knees: 30 seconds
  • Circuit 1, exercise 2: squat jump: 20 reps
  • Circuit 1, exercise 3: reverse lunge to curtsy lunge: 15 reps (each leg)

Rest for 30 seconds and then repeat for a total of three rounds.

Circuit 2

  • Circuit 2, exercise 1: forward backward lunge: 15 reps (each leg)
  • Circuit 2, exercise 2: lateral lunge with knee drive: 15 reps (each leg)
  • Circuit 2, exercise 3: squat pulse: 30 seconds

Rest for 30 seconds and then repeat for a total of three rounds.

Circuit 3

  • Circuit 3, exercise 1: plyo lunge: 20 reps (each leg)
  • Circuit 3, exercise 2: kneel to squat: 15 reps (each leg)
  • Circuit 3, exercise 3: overhead reach to knee drive: 25 reps (each side)

Rest for 30 seconds and then repeat for a total of three rounds.
