Speaking of his newest creations, image and creative director Peter Philips said, “These palettes are multi-faceted products that warm the complexion and deposit a spot of highlight to catch the light on the face. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Toronto’s Inside Out festival—the largest LGBTQ+ film festival in Canada—is going virtual for 2020. From October 1 to 11, its lineup of 150 films and 9 episodic series will be available to stream across Ontario.

To figure out its virtual strategy for 2020, Inside Out delayed the festival by a few months (it typically runs in May). In addition to online streaming, this year the festival is also doing a limited run of screenings at drive-in theatres across the province. The festival’s opening night gala is a drive-in screening of Stardust, a highly-awaited David Bowie biopic starring Johnny Flynn, at the RBC Lakeside Drive-in in Toronto.

Other drive-in screenings this year include: Jump, Darling, about a rookie drag queen and his relationship with his ailing grandmother in Prince Edward County, at the RBC Lakeside Drive-in in Toronto, and Ahead of the Curve, a documentary about iconic lesbian magazine Curve, at the Wesley Clover Parks drive-in Ottawa.

Canadian films at the 2020 Inside Out festival include No Ordinary Man, a profound and moving documentary about 1940s jazz musician and trans icon Billy Tipton; Shiva Baby, about an excruciating but hilarious afternoon one queer Jewish woman spends with her family at a shiva; and Spiral, a horror film starring Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Ari Cohen.

In addition to locally made projects, Inside Out also features a wide selection of international films. This year’s selection includes Breaking Fast, about a gay practicing Muslim trying to figure out his place in West Hollywood; Monsoon, which sees Kit (played by Henry Golding) return to his native Ho Chi Minh City following his parents’ death and strike up a romance with a handsome expat; and Dating Amber, an Irish film about two teens who stage a relationship in order to stop everyone speculating about their sexuality.

Exclusive: Peter Philips on Dior’s Spring 2021 Beauty Look and Nailing Mask Makeup

On Tuesday, Dior held its Spring 2021 show at the Tuileries Garden in Paris on day one of Paris Fashion Week – and as with everything the luxury French fashion house produces, it was a visual spectacle. A black show space was punctuated with stained glass windows, and models walked the runway to the sound of a live choir. As for the clothes? The 86-piece collection was brimming with gorgeous, wearable pieces that wouldn’t be out of place in a (very luxe) work from home wardrobe, and the Dior Spring 2021 beauty look was also entirely Zoom-appropriate.

Speaking of beauty, Peter Philips, the creative and image director of Dior Makeup, pointed to the setting for the show as his inspiration for the look. “The eye makeup is a little like one element from a stained glass collage. You take the eye and you frame it,” he explained adding that the “strong black eye makeup matches the black box and the light comes from the eyes.”

dior spring 2021 beauty
Photograph courtesy of Dior

The look can be distilled into three parts – “gorgeous skin, strong eyes and plump lips,” Philips explain. For the former, he used the Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation “for a beautiful, natural finished which is luminous, but not pearlescent” and very little powder, applying only “when we needed to mattify around the nose or forehead.” From there, the eyes stole the show. The thick-rimmed liner was achieved using the new Diorshow 24hr Stylo which Philips says can be used both “as an eyeliner and as a kohl liner.” He notes that the pencil can be used to create a softer eye look, however for the show Philips opted for “a sharp eye with soft edges.” A swipe of Dior Addict Lip Maximizer was added for a plumping effect, and in Philips’ words, “Voila, that’s it.”

Given our new face mask-wearing reality, Philips also shared a few tips for perfecting your makeup, advising that your approach should be “adapted” and adding that now is the perfect time to “discover the magic of eye makeup.” He suggests focusing “on the eyelid and the eyebrows” and “not putting too much under your eye because when your mask [slides up your face] it can smudge your makeup.”

As for the rest of the face, Philips says, “If you’re able to take your mask off at some point, I would suggest a lip stain, something that can handle smudging, or a long-lasting lipstick” and suggests you carry a compact foundation or powder “so that you can easily retouch your face when you take the mask off.” If you’re partial to a bit of contouring and highlighting, Philips suggests working those steps into your foundation because “it’s easier to fix when you take your mask off when it’s in your foundation.” Primer is also key. “Moisturize first, then add a little film of primer and then apply your foundation – it will change the world for you,” notes Philips, who finishes by saying: “Shift the focus and embrace gorgeous eye makeup – who knows, you might just discover a new woman in you.”

The Best Homemade Croutons

Crunchy, perfectly seasoned and addicting, these Homemade Croutons are the Best. After you see how easy and simple it is you’ll never buy store croutons again. They will crunch, but then melt in your mouth. You will want to make salad or soup just to eat these.

Croutons are the perfect toppers for almost anything. Try them on this Classic Caesar Salad with Asiago Dressing, or Avocado Chicken Bacon Chopped Salad  with a creamy Basil Dressing, And don’t forget soups,  I love them on this Fire Roasted Tomato and Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup.

Crispy, savory, perfectly seasoned croutons.

The Best Homemade Croutons

Seriously these are so good, it’s hard not to eat them all right from the oven. They’re a light crispy crunch unlike the store bought ones that are so rock hard and dry they can break your teeth if you aren’t careful. The seasonings are divine and just right and you can vary them to your liking or needs. You’ll start buying bread just to make these!

The best part is how easy it is. You’ll wonder why you hadn’t tried them before, and you’ll never go back to buying them, it’s just that simple. Plus the aroma they fill your home with is enough to make them on a daily basis. Super easy, super delicious, what’s not to love.

Crouton Ingredients:

Not very many ingredients, but so amazing.

  • Loaf Crusty French Bread– Or bread of your choosing
  • Olive Oil– Can substitute butter or Avocado oil.
  • Italian Seasoning– It’s all the best herbs in one bottle
  • Parmesan Cheese– Finely grated adheres best to the bread.

How to Make Italian Croutons:

So quick on the prep, you’ll make these in no time.

  1. Preheat– Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Cut and Mix– Cut the loaf into bite sized cubes. Drizzle with olive oil and toss till thoroughly coated. Sprinkle on the seasoning and cheese and toss again.
  3. Bake– Spread on a large baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 10-15 minutes till golden brown.

Making perfectly crunchy homemade croutons.

Tips and Variations for Crunchy Croutons:

  • Bread– Using a hearty crusty loaf is important. The airy insides allow air to circulate and you end up with a perfect soft- crisped texture. Sourdough, French, Ciabatta, or any hearty sturdy loaf will do.
  • Fresh vs Old- Either can be used successfully. Old staler bread will cook faster, fresh has more moisture so will take a little longer.
  • Cutting-You can cut or tear the loaf into bite sized pieces, just keep the size uniform to bake at an even rate.
  • Seasonings– Get creative here. Add garlic powder or garlic salt. Add different herbs, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, or parsley. For heat try chili powder, paprika, and cumin.  For a nice kick use ranch dressing powder. Or just add salt and pepper.
  • Cheese– Any hard cheese you can finely grate will work.
  • Stove Top– Need to do these on the stove top? Melt 4 Tablespoons of butter in a skillet on medium heat. Add the unseasoned and unoiled bread to the pan stir to coat. Add the seasonings, and toss. Let sit and brown, stirring every 2-3 minutes till toasty golden brown. About 10 minutes.

Storing Homemade Croutons:

  •  Storage– Croutons keep beautifully if you follow a few guidelines. The drier the croutons the longer they’ll keep. Moisture will cause mold, so if you want to keep these for more than a week, bake till completely dehydrated. Cool the croutons completely before storing in an airtight container for up to  2 weeks.

Crispy, savory, perfectly seasoned croutons.

How to exercise on your period

Top five tips for keeping up your fitness throughout your cycle

Exercising can be the last thing on your mind when you are on your period – especially if you are suffering from mood swings, tiredness or stomach cramps. But before you run a bath or reach for your bar of chocolate consider pulling on your trainers.

Exercise is actually one of the best ways of relieving some of the issues that can accompany periods. According to a study from St. Mary’s University, 78 per cent of women surveyed found exercising reduced the symptoms relating to their menstrual cycle. Not only is there a physical benefit of working out but exercise improves blood circulation in the pelvic area which can ease periods pains. It also releases endorphins, which will boost your overall mood as well as improving your sleep.

Kath Clements is a Director of Mooncup®, the original, leading, ethical silicone menstrual cup, made in Britain. She shares her top five tips for exercising while on your period: “We’re constantly being told to ‘work towards a better you’.  Sometimes that can mean to stop, rest and recover, with your period as a cue to hit pause. But other times, it’s time to shake things up and release. It’s down to you to know the activity level that’s right for you one cycle at a time, but it’s good to understand some of the benefits of exercising on your period. Progesterone and oestrogen dip during menstruation. This can which can make you feel tired and less energetic, but choosing the right type of exercise could make you feel better.”

The top five tips for maintaining your exercise regime during your period:

1. Choose a sport you love

There is no point trying to force yourself to a circuit class or to do 1000 push-ups if you absolutely hate it even when you are feeling 100 per cent.  Choosing something you enjoy will increase the chances of you doing it again. Low-intensity exercise, like swimming, is great and has actually been proven to help relieve menstrual cramps. This is because it encourages your body to release endorphins, which can act like natural painkillers. The buoyancy of the water can also soothe sore back and support your joints. Yoga is also a popular option: not only it is low impact and the deep breathing relaxes you, but it also can reduce cramping, breast tenderness, muscular fatigue and soreness.

2. Just run with it

There is a myth that you can’t run when you’re on your but actually your body is better prepared to run more efficiently when you’re on. Research shows that when your aerobic exercise goes up, the PMS symptoms can go down. Gynecologist Dr Julie Levitt explains to Runner’s World***; “Your body knows it’s not getting pregnant, so its systems aren’t focused on making your uterus into an incubator. Your body can do things other than make babies—including run. Your body’s better able to convert carbs into energy, keep you from overheating, and help you recover.” You might even achieve a new Personal Best. After all Paula Radcliffe famously broke the world record in Chicago in 2002 after suffering period cramps throughout the last third of the race.

3. Beat the bloat

Periods can make you feel bloated. Women can gain between five and ten extra pounds of water before and during their period. This bloat isn’t helped by the cravings for chocolate and unhealthy foods. Too much sugary food can also really hit your mood and energy. Exercising can help to reduce the bloated feeling as when you sweat, water leaves the body, relieving the bloat. Plus – how often have you felt worse after a workout? But please note that drinking less water does not help with water retention – in fact you need to drink more to flush everything out especially if exercising. Always aim for two litres a day.  Cutting down on salt and caffeine can help with the bloating too.

4. Get comfortable

After cramps and low energy levels, the most common reason for not exercising on your period is fear of leaking or discomfort and “feeling your tampon or pad”. Pads and even the tampon string can cause chafing and rubbing especially if you’re running or cycling long distances. One benefit of using the Mooncup is that it is worn completely internally, which means you don’t have to worry about a tampon string making an unwelcome appearance. The Mooncup also holds three times as much as a regular tampon making it easier to focus on your exercise.

It’s a good idea to empty your Mooncup before a workout and get used to using the Mooncup before you hit the pool on a competitive swim!

5. Prep for the pain

While exercise is a great natural relief for menstrual pain, sometimes taking a paracetamol or similar pain relief when on your period can help improve your workout. Take one 30 minutes before your regime and you will notice the improvement. Studies have shown that pain relief helps to regulate your temperature and even lengthen the amount of time you can work out.

Mooncup is a British manufacturing success story with more than 2 million users in 50 countries worldwide. Designed for high performance comfort, durability and reliability, it maintains rigorous quality standards over competitors. The Mooncup menstrual cup is made from platinum-cured medical grade silicone. The company is owned by its employees and encourages sustainable consumerism. Currently, the biggest markets for Mooncup Ltd are the UK, Italy, France, and Switzerland. Further growth is predicted in Europe as the British brand expands, with their website already translated into 15 languages with usage instructions available in 18 different languages.

The world’s most revolutionary pillow launches in the UK

OFFERING A UNIQUE WAY TO EXPERIENCE THE BENEFITS OF CBD WHILST YOU SLEEP.

CBD Pillow are delighted to announce the UK launch of the world’s most revolutionary memory foam pillow featuring CBD-infused fabric. CBD or cannabidiol is an active ingredient found in the hemp plant, that has been  widely associated with relief  from anxiety, chronic pain and sleep disorders – and is now available in a unique pillow form, designed to help promote better sleep.

Until now, CBD has only been distributed through creams or edibles. The CBD Pillow is a revolutionary new way of distributing this safe, all-natural supplement. Unlike creams or edibles, this delivery method allows for micro dosing of CBD all night long to promote a sustained and more effective dosage.

Through a cutting-edge and patented delivery mechanism, utilising a process called microencapsulation, microscopic droplets of zero THC, hemp-derived CBD are wrapped in a protective coating and bonded to the CBD Pillow’s fabric. Friction causes the capsules to burst, slowly releasing micro-doses of high-quality CBD. The CBD is then absorbed directly through hair follicles and the skin where it reacts with CBD receptors, stimulating the body’s endocannabinoid system.

“We were searching for a safe, natural solution to help people get the rest they so desperately need, and we found that solution in CBD. With the CBD Pillow, we can now provide the highest quality CBD, in the easiest, least intrusive way, so that everyone can experience the benefits of CBD,” said Michael Hughes, Founder & CEO of CBD Pillow. “And with microencapsulation technology, we’ve pioneered a pillow that benefits everyone – from a seasoned CBD lover to a first-time tester.”

Unlike traditional CBD oils, that wear off after a few hours when ingested or topically applied, the CBD Pillow releases micro doses of CBD all night long to help sustain the desired effects all night long. The CBD Pillow, with its unique and effective design, allows users to wake up feeling refreshed and balanced, ready to take on the day ahead.

To create a fully customizable experience, customers can adjust the CBD Pillow to their preferred level of thickness and firmness by simply unzipping the cover and adjusting the desired amount of fill.  The hypoallergenic CBD pillows are hand made in the US with a supportive gel memory foam core for cooling and optimal spinal alignment, and come with a 10-year craftsmanship guarantee. Each pillowcase has a lifespan of 3-6 months and can be washed up to 20 times whilst retaining CBD potency.

The CBD Pillow is available online via www.cbdpillow.co.uk, retailing for £119.99 and for a limited period is on promotional offer for 33% off with discount code SLEEP33.

Chrissy Teigen Suffers Miscarriage of Son, Jack: "On This Darkest of Days, We Will Grieve"

After a tough first trimester and multiple hospital stays, Chrissy Teigen has shared the incredibly sad news that she has suffered a miscarriage.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn't enough," her Instagram post began.

"We never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment after they're born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever."

"To our Jack - I'm so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn't give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

She ended the post by sharing her thanks to all those who had supported her, husband John Legend and the family over the last few months, as well as expressing how grateful they were to have their two wonderful babies, "We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we've been able to experience.

"But everyday can't be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

On Sept. 27, Chrissy Teigen shared Instagram Stories from a hospital room explaining that she had been hospitalised due to a weak placenta reason. "I'm about halfway through pregnancy and the blood has been going on . . . maybe a little bit less than a month. But we're talking more than your period . . . I guess in the simplest of terms we can say my placenta is really, really weak."

Earlier this week, Chrissy tweeted about ongoing difficulties with the pregnancy: "Just had a really scary morning Weary face huge clot, almost save-worthy. The scramble to hear the heartbeat seemed like hours. I never thought I'd relief sigh so much in my liiiiife."

The couple revealed they were expecting their third child early this year in the music video for John's song "Wild". The news came as a surprise to the pair themselves as both Luna and Miles we conceived through IVF treatments.

Sending all our love to Chrissy, John and the family.

Actor Christie Whelan Browne Encourages Young Women to Be Proactive About Their Reproductive Health

Christie Whelan Browne has encouraged young women to check their ovarian reserves so they can fully understand their reproductive choices. The Neighbours and The Wrong Girl actor and her musical theatre actor husband Rohan fell pregnant last month after three years of IVF.

Writing on Twitter yesterday, Christie explained that she had been taking the contraceptive pill for 15 years, including skipping periods, before she tried to get pregnant. "Never gave a thought to my reproductive organs & their functions until I was 35 & infertile," she said. "I now urge all young women (even if you don't know if you want kids) to get a simple AMH test & check your egg reserves✌🏻."

As IVF Australia explains, an AMH test checks for the Anti-Mullerian Hormone, a hormone secreted by cells in developing egg sacs. The simple blood test gives a good insight into the amount of eggs and fertile years a woman may have to conceive.

In August, Christie revealed that she was pregnant with a baby son. "We are beyond happy and excited. 💫," she wrote of her "miracle" baby on Twitter.

In a lengthy post to Instagram, which featured the many positive pregnancy tests she took to confirm the good news, Christie thanked people for supporting her and Rohan through their experience of IVF and noted the "painful failed cycles" they had endured.

"I send my love and hugs to those who are reading this who are still struggling through the very hard journey," she continued. "The shame around infertility is just so palpable. My best friend said to me 'but shame is usually reserved for things you have done wrong' and I always tried to remind myself that this was not because of anything I did wrong, or that Rohan did wrong. And it's not something YOU are doing wrong.

"A lot of the time in the 3 years we tried to get pregnant people would say really unhelpful things like 'you need to stop thinking about it' and 'you need to be really positive about it' so not only was my body failing me; but I was asking my mind to ignore the fact that we had been told we had a 1 percent chance of conceiving naturally, and be positive about it anyway.

"The best thing I took away from all those painful months? That 'hope' is something that lives inside us even when we think it's gone. It's the reason we live, because hope always remains. It's never lost, even when you can't hear it. Whether 'hope' leads to a baby, or another journey that fills your heart. HOPE - it's the silent angel that makes the heart beat. 💗🤞🏻"

Hopefully Christie's candour about her experience can help give some women a kind of solace through their own journeys. And it's a good reminder for us all to be more proactive about our reproductive health!

These Keto Pumpkin Spice Pancakes Give All The Fall Vibes Without the Sugar

Breakfast is by far my favourite meal, and what better way to start your day than with pumpkin pancakes? Fall is here and I can't help but notice all the pumpkin spice treats hitting my Instagram feed and the aisles of Trader Joe's. I have noticed that around this time of year so many holiday-themed foods hit the shelves but most offered don't align with keto-friendly diets, which makes it difficult for some to join in on the pumpkin-spiced fun. These pancakes will have you feeling a part of the fall season but offer a keto-friendly take on the classic breakfast food. Sweetener brand In the Raw sent me some of their newest product, Monk Fruit in the Raw, to try out with a new baking recipe. Immediately I thought it would be a great alternative to use to sweeten these pancakes, and let me tell you, you wouldn't even know it's a sugar substitute. Monkfruit extract contains no calories and no carbs, which makes it a great option for a ketogenic diet.

Discovered and named by Buddhist monks, monkfruit is a vine-ripened fruit enjoyed by Asian cultures for centuries because of its natural sweetness, and, according to Eastern medicine, as a cold and digestive aid. Its delicious, light, sweet taste was a perfect addition to this recipe. Each packet has the sweetness of about two teaspoons of sugar without all of the calories. Monk Fruit in the Raw is vegan and a naturally gluten-free food that's absolutely perfect for baking or even adding to the cup of coffee you'll pair with these pancakes.

These pancakes are packed with 23.3 grams of fat, 11.9 grams of protein, and only three grams of sugar (zero grams of added sugar). They taste absolutely amazing on their own served warm, but if you want a little extra pizzazz, you can whip up some maple whipped cream. If whipped cream isn't your thing, spread a little butter on the warm cakes and drizzle with keto-friendly maple syrup for the perfect bite! This recipe yields four servings of two pancakes.

Schitt’s Creek Topped Social Media Charts After the Emmys

Following their Emmys sweep earlier this month, Schitt’s Creek shot to the top of global social media charts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Canadian show reached No. 1 on its Social Climbers chart, a weekly list ranking the most popular TV personalities and shows on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

The chart’s methodology “blends engagement to entities’ social media accounts along with weekly additions of followers/subscribers,” and is based on global data provided by social media analytics company MVP. For the first time ever, Schitt’s Creek snagged the top spot in THR’s Top Scripted list, recording gains in all social metrics this past week. It received 3.4 million Instagram favourites, up 3,781%; and 982,000 Twitter likes, a boost of 3,239%.

In addition, Dan Levy (who took home Emmys for writing, directing and acting that night) entered the Top Actors list for the first time. His social media metrics included 1.8 million Instagram favourites and 1.3 million Twitter likes, plus 98,000 new Instagram followers and 83,000 new Twitter followers. Other actors on the list dated September 30 include Dwayne Johnson, Viola Davis, Jennifer Aniston and Henry Cavill.

Though Schitt’s Creek had been on the air for six seasons, it was only during its final season that it racked up a whopping 15 Emmy nominations (earning four nods but no wins in its prior season). Its 9 Emmy wins this year make it the only comedy to ever have taken home so many statuettes in a single season. The 2020 awards ceremony also marked the first time in Emmys history that one show swept all four acting categories—Annie Murphy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy and Eugene Levy all took home awards for their portrayal of the iconic Roses.

The final season of the show aired on CBC from January through April 2020, but it’s only landing on Netflix now. Mark your calendars, season 6 drops on the streaming platform on October 7.

Mushroom Stroganoff

I love beef stroganoff, but I wanted to see if there was a way to make it vegetarian for days I want to go meatless. I played around with this Mushroom Stroganoff until we were sick of it, but it was well worth it! This recipe was a huge hit in my house. The art of meditation, have you mastered it yet?

Magazine articles, apps, documentaries, wellness books, basically everywhere you turn nowadays people are talking about the benefits of meditation.

So I ask are you meditating?

The chances are you fall into one of 3 categories; those who are nailing meditation, those who are thinking yeah sure but it doesn’t sound like my thing and those who have tried it and just cannot make it work. If you are in the last two categories, and let’s face it most of us are, stay with me I am about to change your perspective.

I am a sceptical person, so before believing that I wanted to go down a meditation route in my life I did ALL of the reading, and then I read some more. I tried several different methods of meditation and they just weren’t working for me. I did what any self-respecting sceptic does, I read some more and I found out why it wasn’t working and then I figured out a way to make it work and now I can share this with you. You can calm your monkey mind without meditating.

Meditation has grown in popularity around the globe in recent years but is there any real science behind its effectiveness?

Over the past two decades there have been numerous scientific studies around the effects of meditation but let’s look first at brain in general. For hundreds of years the brain was commonly understood as a non-renewable organ we now know, due to studies; Karl Lashley and his work with rhesus monkeys in the 1920’s, Justo Gonzalo and his work in the 1940’s that looked at inverted perception disorder and brain plasticity, we know that the brain is not a fixed organ.  Marian Diamond produced the first scientific evidence of anatomical brain plasticity in her published works in 1964. We know that neuroplasticity is a real and it has huge implications not only in physiological benefits such as cochlear implants but this also means that we can transfer this knowledge to psychological aspects of the brain. This is demonstrated in multiple studies into neuro linguistic programming (NLP), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or the multiple papers written by Eleanor Maguire on hippocampal formation.

Many studies have investigated meditation for different conditions;

  • For Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • For Ulcerative Colitis
  • For High Blood Pressure
  • For Anxiety, Depression, and Insomnia
  • For Smoking Cessation

I suffer with chronic mental illness. I know it is not on trend to say suffer with but it is in fact the truth. It makes my life harder, every day. I also manage chronic illness and a disability. Many people with long term health conditions and disability are more prone to depression and anxiety. They may also face some very practical issues that hinder traditional meditation methods. For instance I have both PoTS and Wolff-Parkinson White Syndrome. Both of these conditions cause irregularities in my breathing and heart rhythm, a little bit of a hindrance when you are focussing on breath and heart rate to meditate

That is only one issue that the traditional methods of meditation throw up for me. I am also neurodivergent, that is a whole other ball game to navigate.

Meditation & mindfulness can cause harm in some people.

Meditation practice is not about stopping your thoughts, it is about finding peace with them, recognising what is happening in your brain and not judging. This is can be a huge problem for the vast majority of people as quiet time alone with your thoughts can be hugely damaging if your thoughts are very negative. So many of us have trauma in our past of varying degrees and being alone with those thoughts can send a person into a downwards spiral. It takes an incredibly well trained mind to not descend into despair at times. By offering your mind a conscious focus you are better able to find clarity and deal with those thoughts that are swimming around aimlessly and offer them direction.

Doodling, (a form of fidgeting), actually helps to focus the mind. How many times as a child you were told to stop fidgeting and concentrate? In fact people who doodle have far better memory retention. Continuous thought or concentration actually puts your brain under strain. Guess what meditation can cause strain. What if I could tell you that you can harness the power of the doodle and creative activity to aide your mental well-being.

Before I developed this method of creative meditation the only thing that I had at my disposal to help calm me was a walk alone in nature. That was all well and good but in reality when the children are in bed and it is late at night and anxiety hits I could hardly go out and take a walk. After speaking with people and reading articles about those who struggle I knew I needed to make this into a course that others could follow and out it out into the world.
