Toronto-based, hand-crafted jewellery label Oremme — which is already a member of the environmental initiative 1% for the Planet — wants your unwanted gold jewellery. Why? So it can be melted down for future use. The brand just announced its Gold Recycling Program, which asks customers to send in gold jewellery that they no longer use for a store credit (based on karat weight); Oremme will then melt the gold down to use in new pieces.

Founder Emilie Nolan notes in a press release about the program: “Gold has infinite lives, whether that’s a chain that has broken, earrings that have lost their match, or a piece you’re ready to release. In addition to our made-to-order model and 1% for the Planet commitment, recycling this material is another layer of consciousness I’m excited to offer our clientele.”

“What we wear can allow us to fully inhabit a particular side of who we are,” says New York-based Hana Tajima in a statement about her new collaboration collection for Uniqlo. The range of pieces — which includes softly structured separates, flowy dresses and accessories — speak to an all-encompassing approach to daily life, acknowledging a new reality where our activities are more integrated and have an emphasis on ease. “Our days are becoming more condensed with different parts of our lives existing in the same place. Through comfort and simplicity, I wanted these clothes to give a sense of space and allow us to transition easily between different parts of ourselves, so we can reclaim a sense of identity.”
