Announcing the 2021 #BeautyForAll Awards: The Best in Skincare, Cosmetics, Fragrance + More

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — when we officially announce the winners of our #BeautyForAll Awards. This year, FASHION celebrates the 20th anniversary of the annual awards, in which we test hundreds of beauty submissions and select the best of the best in each category. This year, we called on a diverse group of beauty experts to participate in choosing this year’s winning products. Of hundreds of entries, our judges narrowed it down to 72 winning products they couldn’t get enough of.

This year, categories were revised from previous years and we are proud to present six gender-neutral categories: hair care, body care, skincare, fragrance, clean and cosmetics. Before we get to the winning products, we invite you to meet our incredible panel of judges below.

Meet Our Judges

 

Now, without further ado, we present the winners of FASHION‘s 20th annual #BeautyForAll Awards.

Hair Care

Can’t get to the salon? These 20 picks, for every hair type and need, should do the trick. These are the shampoos and conditioners, styling products and tools that seriously impressed our judges.

Skincare

For the first time ever, skincare sales surpassed makeup sales in Canada last year, thanks to growing interest in the category that sky-rocketed during the pandemic. With that in mind, check out the best moisturizers, cleansers, serums (and so, so much more) on the market.

Body Care

From SPF to self-tanner, shaving products to hand cream (and everything in between), these are this year’s standout body care products—just in time for summer.

Cosmetics

It’s no secret that the cosmetics industry is booming like never before. New makeup launches are a seemingly daily occurrence, which can make shopping for a new holy grail mascara, eyeliner or lipstick an overwhelming task. Luckily, our judges were up to the challenge and selected the ones you should stock up on.

Fragrance and Clean

Fragrances are some of the most subjective and personal beauty products on the market, but these winning picks impressed all of our judges. Plus, meet the one product that truly wowed our panelists, thanks to its focus on clean innovation.

All the Wild Looks from the 2021 Grammy Awards

The 2021 Grammy Awards took place on March 14 and despite a limited red carpet and much of the awards ceremony happening virtually, celebrities didn’t hold back when it came to their ensembles. From Lizzo’s not one but two ’80s-inspired dresses to Harry Styles’s plaid moment, the Grammy red carpet looks were as fun and fashionable as we’ve come to expect from one of the biggest nights in music.

A Highly Anticipated New Scent from The 7 Virtues + Other Beauty News This Week

The Body Shop introduces its Self-Love Uprising Campaign


Earlier this week, on March 8 (International Women’s Day) The Body Shop launched its new global campaign, called Self-Love Uprising. On a quest to demonstrate the importance of self-love and positive self-esteem, the brand has partnered with activist and actress Jameela Jamil and Canadian-born Sara Kuburic, also known as The Millennial Therapist (you can read our interview with Jamil and Kuburic here), to spread the message. The Body Shop has also teamed up with Larissa Crawford, founder of Future Ancestors Services; Tommy Dorfman, actor and activist; Nora McInerny, writer and Still Kickin founder; and Sara Mora, immigrant rights activist and speaker, who will represent the brand for the remainder of the year as it kicks off a variety of different initiatives.

All Garnier products are officially approved by Cruelty Free International under the Leaping Bunny Program

Exciting news for Garnier! Earlier this week, the brand announced that all of its products around the world are now officially cruelty-free. Garnier has been given the stamp of approval by the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny Program, the leading organization working to end animal testing across the globe. “It has taken many months, but Garnier has diligently reviewed every supplier and source and we are completely confident with the results,” said Michelle Thew, Cruelty Free International CEO in a statement. Leaping Bunny certification is no small feat. To be awarded the label, brands are required to forensically investigate their entire supply chain, including all raw materials and individual ingredients, for any cases of animal testing. Approval must be given to a brand’s entire catalog of finished products, as individual items can’t be approved in isolation. Congrats, Garnier!

The 7 Virtues, Sephora U.S. and Canada’s top-selling clean fragrance brand, has just launched its ninth scent, Santal Vanille. “We’ve been making sustainably sourced clean perfume since before it was cool,” says brand founder, Halifax-based Barb Stegemann. “Now after over a decade as pioneer s in clean beauty, we’ve cracked the code on how to make a natural, long-lasting scent.” The woody, spicy scent contains 25 percent fragrance oils, is available as an eau de parfum and a perfume oil.

Ugg Released a Sustainable Collection + More Fashion News You May Have Missed This Week

Ugg has committed to a sustainable future with its latest collection of fuzzy footwear. Having collaborated with high-profile brands like Telfar and Molly Goddard, Ugg has spent much of the last year in the spotlight. In October 2020, the brand made a public commitment to sustainability with the launch of their Feel Good platform, intended to keep customers updated on their eco-conscious goals and initiatives. “Our design team took inspiration from our iconic styles and created new silhouettes with carbon-neutral, plant-based materials. The resulting Plant Power collection tells a story about what is possible, and it is an exciting step in on our journey towards a more sustainable future,” says the company’s president, Andrea O’Donnell, about this new eco-minded collection. The styles are made from materials like renewable sugarcane, TENCEL™ Lyocell, and LACTAE HEVEA® latex.

Eshajori, a minimalist streetwear brand from Vancouver, just launched

Launched on March 12, Eshajori is a Canadian streetwear brand conceived by Matt Lam. The name translates from the Japanese phrase meaning “those who meet, must part.” The first collection of two t-shits, a hoodie, a beanie and a trucker hat is available in limited quantities and will not be restocked. Sourced in Los Angeles and Toronto and put together in Vancouver, this local label is one to watch.

Loewe announced “The Surplus Collection”

The Loewe team is getting creative making new products using scrap leather from previous collections. The initiative called “The Surplus Collection” includes a mini version of the brand’s basket bag, made famous in Jonathan Anderson’s first Loewe collection, and a playful bag charm in the shape of a crab. The release follows the Eye/LOEWE/Nature collection in which the brand used recycled, upcycled and organic textiles in an effort to increase its sustainability efforts.

Saucony Originals made a sneaker entirely out of natural materials

With a circular economy as its goal, Saucony has taken the first step towards a more sustainable future with their new Jazz Court RFG. The feel-good shoe, launching March 16, is made from seven natural and renewable materials; synthetic materials are replaced with gardenia flowers and dye traded in for beetroot juice, plus the new style uses 100 percent recycled cardboard for its packaging.
