Every so often, the Internet blesses our social media feeds with a new “boyfriend,” i.e. a cool dude whose talents and allure have garnered him a massive online fanbase seemingly overnight. Evan Mock, Donté Colley and Leo Reilly are no doubt three of the Internet’s most recent obsessions, and we got them to dish on the beauty regimens that get them ready for their constant close-ups.

Mock is known for a lot of things. Sure, he’s the breakout star (and crush) from the Gossip Girl reboot with a pink buzz-cut that’s hard to miss (he dyes it every two weeks). But the Hawaii-born rising star is so much more. Mack has established a name for himself in the skateboard and surf world, travelled the globe with Travis Scott as his Astroworld tour photographer and stepped in front of the camera modelling for Calvin Klein and Ugg, plus he’s walked in the Spring 2020 Men’s Louis Vuitton show. The Gucci x The North Face Collab Collection Has Almost Arrived

The great outdoors are set to get even better now that the hotly anticipated Gucci x The North Face collection is nearly here. The brands just expanded on the teaser videos posted when the collaboration was announced several months ago with a new, longer look at what pieces will be a part of the offering.

In a video directed by image-maker Daniel Shea and set to Creedence Clearwater Revival’s groovy tune, “Bad Moon Rising,” we see a gaggle of stylish pals embark on a charming trek (for anyone who’s turned to more time in the wilderness during quarantine, this will resonate deeply) kitted out in puffer jackets, unisex hiking boots, glam dresses and vintage-tinged logo apparel. Archival fabrics are used throughout the collection to give it even more of the retro vibe Gucci continues to covet.

The fashion almost takes a backseat to the group’s accessories, which include luggage pieces, backpacks, tents and sleeping bags. The luggage pieces are crafted with the sustainably-minded material Econyl, a nylon fabric made with recycled materials.

According to Gucci’s IG, starting tomorrow (Wednesday, December 23rd) you can enter an online raffle for early collection access in select countries on the brand’s website; and the collection officially drops internationally in early January.

Nam Vo, Instagram’s Reigning Glow Queen, Talks Quarantine Skincare

To follow Nam Vo on Instagram is to go down a rabbit hole of hypnotizing dewy cheekbones strobed to absolute perfection. It’s an endless parade of glass-like skin — whether on herself, a model or her celebrity clients, like Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Teigen — that will have you yearning for a serious highlighter fix. The New York-based celebrity makeup artist calls herself and her legions of Instagram fans (over 324, 000 and counting) “dewy dumplings,” a term she’s coined to describe the gleaming, glazed look she’s become Insta-famous for and that nods to the sheen of freshly steamed dim sum.

But the viral sensation’s “glow jobs” as she calls them aren’t just about faking an immaculate complexion with makeup. “I’m always asked: What’s your favourite foundation? How do I cover acne? How do I cover melasma? My view is that beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin,” preaches Vo, adding that she’s a big fan of K-beauty products, like skincare brand Dr. Belmeur, who she has partnered with this year. “I feel like the science, technology and advancements that go into K-Beauty skincare are the best. Whatever is happening in Korea, five years later it comes to America.”

The makeup artist is incredibly diligent about her multi-step skincare routine and a big advocate for regular facials, too. But with many in-salon professional treatments being no-go zones during this year’s shelter-in-place orders, we had to ask Vo how she’s been maintaining her radiant complexion at home during the pandemic.

Morning routine:

“I double cleanse and tone, use an essence and one to three serums. I moisturize, use an eye cream and then I close it all up with a facial mist.”

Bedtime ritual:

“I’ve been using the Dr. Belmeur Red Pro-Retinol Serum every night. It’s really, really good. I’ll first use the Cica Peptite Ampoule, which is good for tightening the skin, then I’ll layer the Pro-Retinol on top and finish with the Recovery Cream. The Recovery Cream’s texture is really special. It’s just this cloudy, fluffy moisturizer that’s great for right now with it being colder outside and my skin being drier. “Is it horrible to say all of it? Like, you should see when I travel! My clothing suitcase is a carry-on and my skincare and makeup are in a checked bag. But if I had to give up one thing, I might give up an essence because I use so many targeted serums. I’m Vietnamese and have been taught about skincare since I was child. A lot of my American friends always tell me, ‘Girl, I’m lazy and you have ten things going on.’ But I really don’t see it that way. When I open my medicine cabinet and see all of my serums and treatment products, they don’t only feel like self care, but like I’m treating myself like a queen, especially now that I’m sitting at home and have more time to marinate. It’s all luxury [to me]. My products are like my little treasures.”

Here’s What Astrology Has in Store for 2021

We’re all very, very over the year 2020. The question is, will 2021 be any better? We spoke with Canadian astrologer Corina Crysler to glean some information about what the stars have in store for the year. Good news: If you’re hoping for some more stability, you could get it. “2021 is very different than 2020 in a lot of ways,” says Crysler, noting some rare astrological events going down at the end of this year, like the Great Conjunction where Saturn and Jupiter align for the first time in centuries, will usher in change – but you have to personally put in the work to reap the results. What does that look like? Read on for 2021 astrology predictions.

What’s the main astrological vibe of 2021?

In a few words: “Collective responsibility and collective healing,” says Crysler.

What should we be doing to prep for 2021?

“We’ve been on autopilot for so long – 2020 dismantled all of that. It’s taken us back to the basics in a lot of ways, and within that, you start understanding what’s important to you. There’s a lot of relationships that have fallen apart this year. There’s a lot of people changing their careers, moving out to the country, connecting and reconnecting with other people. We’re reevaluating how we’ve been living our lives.”

Chrysler uses this analogy to explain the difference between 2020 and 2021: “We’ve had this house, but it was kind of falling apart, and then 2020 knocked it down entirely. Now we’re building a new house with a stronger foundation, that’s going to last us a lot longer.”

If you didn’t put in the work in 2020 – journaling, meditation, yoga and other mindfulness practices – when it comes to decide what the new house will look like (i.e. the new framework for our lives), you’re going to feel overwhelmed. Takeaway: take some time to reflect on the year, stat.

We’re now in the age of Aquarius. Is that good?

“There’s going to be two types of things that happen,” explains Crysler. “People that weren’t as affected this year, in 2020, who didn’t really look at the way they’ve been living their lives and what does and doesn’t make them happy, are going to feel it next year in 2021.” This is because we’re entering the age of Aquarius, folks. (Yes, just like the song.)

Exactly when this age started is a hotly debated topic amongst astrologers, but many believe it began on December 21, 2021 at the Great Conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter. Others think it started years ago. Aquarius is all about the collective: they’re not just here for themselves. In February 2021, many planets align in Aquarius, giving us lots and lots of Aquarius energy.

What else do we need to know to navigate this energy?

It’s important that people have patience and compassion for one another, says Crysler. “We have to pull together as a collective, otherwise nothing is going to change. If we step into our purpose and our authentic selves, that contributes to a stronger collective consciousness. As a world we need to do better, and we only do that by doing better ourselves.”

What else is going down in 2021?

The end of 2020 saw a solar eclipse in Sagittarius and 2021 will have a bunch as well. “It’s important to note that whatever’s happening at the end of this year is going to be a cycle; it’s going to come up significantly with the eclipses in 2021,” says Crysler. Eclipses are about purpose, fate and authenticity and Sagittarius is all about personal mastery – a big theme for 2021. It doesn’t matter what you’re a “master” of, says Crysler, it’s more about awareness that we’re learning and creating our own way.

“The overall energy is between Sagittarius and Aquarius, which is a big movement of fire and air. They move things quite quickly in the springtime. There’s a big retrograde cycle at the end of the summer as well, which will slow us down a little bit,” says Crysler.

At the end of 2021, Venus will go retrograde in Capricorn. “Venus retrograde is quite significant in terms of how we progress forward in who and what we love and the things that are really important and dear to us in our life.”

Will all these energies affect everyone in the same way?

No, and that’s why now is the best time to get an astrology reading if that’s something that interests you. “It’s one of the most important times to [get one],” says Crysler, not only because the end of the year, and it will flag the big shifts that are coming up in your life for 2021, but because of the massive transits that are happening, like moving from a strong Capricorn energy to a Aquarian energy. “It will happen in a certain house or two houses in your chart, and that’s where this energy is really going to influence your life.”

For example, if you have a lot of Aquarius or dominant air signs in your chart, you’re really going to need to ground yourself. “This could be getting out in the woods, taking a walk in the park, being near water, exercise – anything that brings you back into your body.”

Set the Tone For Your Day With Luxe Lingerie From Australia’s Sevigne

If there was one major takeaway from this year’s hottest fashion trends (tie dye, elevated loungewear, fuzzy slippers, etc.), it’s that dressing for yourself and being comfortable is—and will most likely remain—a big priority.

But just because you’ve been opting for cozier, more laid-back pieces these days (sherpa and cashmere, anyone?) doesn’t mean you shouldn’t aim for elevated and elegant underneath. Enter: Sevigne, a new luxury lingerie brand that’s making the case for dressing up for yourself—and only yourself—starting with your intimates.

The female-owned Australian brand, which launched in Canada this month, was founded on the philosophy that lingerie should be refined, fit well and enhance your natural shape. Likewise, what you wear beneath your clothing is just as important as the clothing itself—after all, as co-founders Natalie and Mirela Bazina point out, it is the first thing you put on in the morning. “Lingerie allows the wearer an opportunity to express themselves privately and channel certain moods, whether it be playful or powerful,” Natalie says. In a sense, slipping on a gorgeous, well-made piece of lingerie can be considered a daily restorative act of self-care.

Sevigne’s current lineup (starting from $29 and available at sevigne.com.au) features an assortment of sophisticated bras and briefs, divided into two ranges which can be mixed, matched and worn for any occasion. The La Base collection consists of pieces designed for maximum support and comfort: Think flattering high-waisted briefs that enhance your waistline and the bestselling Rue T-Shirt bra, made with softly-padded cups.

The Premiere range is also constructed with support and comfort at the forefront, but features more delicate fabrics, like the brand’s signature lace and mesh in neutrals, as well as powder blue and blush pink. Standouts include the lightweight Bijou bikini bottom, and the elegant Esmee lace bra, which is equal parts comfortable and sexy, perfect for pairing under a cozy cable knit sweater during the evenings or a t-shirt during the day.

Each piece is beautifully crafted with high quality fabrics and, notably, doesn’t come with the unnecessary bells and whistles commonly found in most mainstream lingerie. When conducting their research, the duo noticed that most bras on the market boast “super thick and uncomfortable padding,” which compromises the fit of the piece, explains Mirela. That said, Sevigne products come with minimal padding and are constructed with underwires to provide added support, allowing the wearer’s natural curves to shine through. “We believe in enhancing a woman’s unique silhouette rather than hindering it,” she says.

But what makes Sevigne really stand out is its range of sizes. “Women are constantly bombarded by unrealistic images of what their bodies should look like,” says Natalie. “Ensuring that our collection represented all women was essential to the launch of Sevigne, so we carefully considered different styles and sizing to be as inclusive as possible.” That means bras ranging from an A to J cup, and bottoms from XS to 4XL.

There’s also the fact that Mirela and Natalie hire women with realistic body types to model Sevigne’s wares. Because, despite it being 2020, some lingerie brands are still overtly sexualizing women and “portraying unrealistic body standards” that are restrictive and harmful, says Mirela. Sevigne, on the other hand, promotes accepting your body as it is; stretch marks, curves and all.
